Academician, Tourism Certification Expert & Balinese Cultural Scholar
IB. Purwa Sidemen, S.Ag., M.Si is a dedicated academician, tourism practitioner, and cultural advocate committed to bridging modern hospitality standards with the rich heritage of Balinese local wisdom. He is currently pursuing his Doctoral degree (Ph.D. Candidate) in Religious and Cultural Studies at the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Hindu Indonesia (UNHI) Denpasar.
With extensive experience in tourism standards auditing, community outreach, and cultural preservation, he actively holds various strategic roles at both regional and national levels.
Leadership & Industry Expertise
- Hospitality & Tourism Certification:Serving as the Operations Director at Lembaga Sertifikasi Produk Pariwisata Bali Mandiri (LSPr PBM) since 2014, he works as a Lead Auditor for Tourism Business Standards across hotels, villas, SPAs, CHSE, and SUBE. He is also an Assessor for the Tri Hita Karana Award, a member of the Disaster Preparedness Certification Team (SKB) under BPBD Bali, and part of the Bali Provincial Tourism Business License Audit Acceleration Team.
- Industry & Community Governance:He actively shapes the hospitality sector as a Board Member for Certification at BPD PHRI Bali, Advisor to BPC PHRI Klungkung, Central Region Coordinator for PKSUPI, Vice Chairman of FORKOM DEWI Bali, and Chairman of the Pokdarwis Tourism Village Community in Nyalian.
- Customary & Cultural Leadership:Entrusted as Petajuh Bandesa Agung Baga I at the Bali Provincial Customary Village Council (MDA) for the 2024–2029 term, he oversees Religious, Customary, Artistic, Cultural, and Local Wisdom affairs. He also leads the Klungkung Chapter of the Dharmopadesa Pusat Nusantara Association (PDPN).
Academia & Artistic Dedication
As a lecturer at Universitas Hindu Indonesia (UNHI) Denpasar, he teaches across the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Religious Science, Arts & Culture, and the Faculty of Economics, Business & Tourism. He also serves as the Head of the Division for Community Service, Innovation, and IPR at LPPM UNHI.
Beyond academia and industry leadership, he is a seasoned artist and the founder/head of Sanggar Seni Tirthapudja. He frequently serves as a national and local speaker for Dharma Wacana, a performer of traditional Topeng dance and Selonding gamelan music, as well as a judge for prestigious cultural pageants including Jegeg Bagus Klungkung, Teruna Teruni Denpasar, and Jegeg Bagus Bali.
